Flowmeters in use today are commonly used to obtain accurate flow or volume rates in industrial processes not requiring continuous monitoring. The speed and ease of installation of clamp on ultrasonic flowmeters
result in their being often chosen in situations not requiring coninually monoriting and in locations with difficult accces. One interesting use is in area cooling or heating schemes where mass flowmeters can be sued to deterimine the useage for each customer and report it periodically to the billing applications.
