One of the oldest and most complex flow meters is the Helical gear flow meter
which gets its name from the shape of the helix shaped rotors. Fluid flowing through the meter enters compartments in the rotors, which causes the rotors to rotate. The flow rate is then derived from from the speed of the rotor
